ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 4 | ENTRYWAY HOOKS & BENCH BUILD
We have made so much progress in our mudroom as part of the One Room Challenge Project that we've been working on. And in case you missed the first few posts, you can get caught up here:
There's so many awesome designs for entryway hooks and a bench so we were excited to build one that was unique for our space.
We framed, drywalled, mudded, painted and tiled our Mudroom and then started on the hook & bench area. We built in the bench using the same method that we used for our floating shelves in our living room. Once we had the bench built, we cut a piece of plywood into strips and attached it to the wall to use it as shiplap.
Next, Cam built in a shelf that uses crown moulding to give it a little detail. And then we added the hooks.
And of course, we needed test it out to see if it was going to work for the boys the hang their backpacks!
We painted the shiplap and crown moulding shelf the same colour as our trim work.
Next, we stained the bench. I added a coat of wood conditioner and let it sit for 20 minutes and then added the first coat of stain. We added one coat of 'Classic Grey' and one coat of 'Dark Walnut'. After the stains dried for 24 hours, we finished the bench with polycrylic.
It's looking pretty lovely, isn't it?! We're going to have the big reveal ready for next week - can't wait to show you how it turned out! Hope you have a good week!
