And just like that – these renovations are done! TIME! It took us about 8 months to completely destroy the interior of this house, rebuild it until it was pretty again, paint the exterior of the house, and build a deck and fence in the backyard. I would say that we have earned ourselves a little celebratory drink! Cheers!
The floor plan has improved immensely since we got our hands on this house! We took down the wall between the kitchen and living room to create an open-concept space with a nice flow. We also took down the door between the living room and the hallway and the living room and the entryway. The entryway is much more inviting now that it’s a defined space with a coat hook shelf, bench, and shoe shelf. We also added square footage to the bathroom and made it much more functional. And lastly, we stole wasted space from the front entryway used it to create a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Overall, the flow of this house makes much more sense and we are thrilled with the changes.
Our original vision to turn this house into a classic character home with a modern twist has certainly been achieved. The character in this home shines through in the crown mouldings, farm sink, farm faucet, interior and exterior colours that were chosen, refinished hardwood floors, subway tile, a white cabinets, and by exposing the brick chimney in the kitchen. However, the home definitely comes with a modern twist now that everything in this home has been refreshed and the layout is functional for the modern family.
